Puppy class is hosted on Saturday mornings. We work on a roll-on roll-of basis, this means you can enroll your puppy at any time along as he or she is between the age of 8 and 16 weeks and has had their second inoculation.
What and Why?
All puppies go through a period called the socialization period this critical period is between 4 and 12 weeks although studies have shown that it might even start sooner and last longer, that’s why we allow pups to still start at 16 weeks.
In this period everything that a pup experience positive or negative molds his perception of the world around him, this is why it is so important to stay positive with your pup. Socialization creates the opportunity to have a well-adapted, confidant and friendly dog.
It is also very important to note that socialization is a vital aspect of a dog’s life and should continue all though their doggy life, socialization is not limited to 12 weeks, a dog can learn new thing every day and this help shape their world. Puppy class is the single most important thing you can do for your pup.
What to expect in puppy class
In puppy class the puppies play of lead, this gives them the opportunity to learn vital socialization skills and recall skills. Pups learn basic obedience skills such as sit, stay, come when called and more.
We work on the owner’s theory, discussing all important aspects of caring for and owing a puppy. In each class we do a practical aspect such as grooming, desensitization though an obstacle course and more.
